Yes! Supervision is always the most important part of your injury prevention plan. However, children are quick and injuries can happen in just a few seconds. It can be difficult to always anticipate the curiosity of your baby. Babyproofing is an important way to help keep your baby safe at home. While safety products don't replace supervision, they can assist you with keeping your curious child safe. It is hard to catch a baby that crawls quickly to the top of the stairs or opens the cabinet under the sink and finds the lemon-scented cleaner when you might be distracted for a few seconds. Since no home is 100% safe and there are not safety products to help with every hazard, supervision is still very important.
Yes. Our staff will install the products safely and show you how to use everything! Sometimes parents just call us for gate or cabinet latch installations, so we are flexible with our installation services. Gates and gate instructions can be very confusing so they are often the most challenging safety product to install.
It depends on the product. Some safety products are of much higher quality than others. We only install products that we normally sell and that meet our standards for quality and safety.
Yes! You will need power tools, including a drill. Our Home Evaluation Worksheet allows you to pick and choose what you need us to install. We can provide you with installation tips, if you install the products yourself. You may want us to install the gates and cabinet latches because those are the products we often see installed incorrectly. Proper installation is important to insure that products will work correctly and safely.
The cost of babyproofing is different for every home because every home is different. The cost generally depends on how many gates and cabinet latches you will need and where you spend your time in your home with your baby. Most parents don't babyproof every room of the house, but will deny access to the more dangerous areas. We will work within your budget to help you choose the best way to make your home safer. Many parents also choose to babyproof in stages.
Probably not. Most stores do not carry a wide selection of quality safety products. Also, their staff is not knowledgeable or trained on how to select and install the products. We carry products from numerous manufacturers which allows us to select quality products that will work in your home!
Do you remember riding in the car as a child without a seatbelt? Certainly you would not allow your child to ride without a car seat. Injury prevention research has provided better education about risks for children and important steps we can take to prevent injuries. Even though you may not have been injured as a child, many children were. Many injuries are preventable!
